25th June 2018 Dinner 8.30pm
The Plantage Café Restaurant is located in part of the Artis Amsterdam Royal Zoo. A grand building like a Victorian Orangery, you can almost imagine the Victorian ladies swaying around in their long dresses. On arrival, we were greeted and shown to our table for four. It was very busy with all ages dining, our table was inside but there was an outside dining area too.
The staff were attentive and took our drinks order and brought bread and oil. We chose a glass of Rose to accompany our meal.
The menu offered a Vegetarian Mixed plate chosen by the Chef, you could ask the waiter for more information. There were 4 vegetarian starters and 2 main meals on the menu.
For starters we all ordered the same – “Curried Fattoush” with young leaf spinach, radicchio, cauliflower, soybeans, little black olives, red onion pickle, feta and walnuts. It was absolutely delicious and the Sardinian Flatbread went really well with it.
Main dish Linda and I chose Risotto with Dutch asparagus, garden peas, green herbs, sea lavender, poached egg and parmesan. Perfect poached egg and so tasty.
The meal came to £160 for the four of us, £40 each including our wine.
