Matcha is a form of green tea but without the usual caffeine content. According to Ayurveda, most green teas contain caffeine and will tell you that caffeine is rajasic, a quality that, when taken often increases restlessness and greed and creates dosha imbalances, for all doshas.
Ginger is always considered heating and it does have those properties, but according to Ayurveda it also has the properties of the 'sweet' taste which is relieving and cooling. Actions of ginger on the doshas are that it decreases Vata and Kapha, can increase Pitta in excess, especially dry ginger. So always have your ginger fresh.
This is a delicious sunshine chai, which I have warm in the winter and cool in the summer. With the added advantage of using fresh turmeric which is always milder and lighter than powdered. This recipe is a delight, I also add a teaspoon of coffee, I use organic no caffeine coffee, you can buy in many supermarkets.
