Autumn is considered a Vata season where everything changes, the leaves fall, the winds rise and it can feel like a period of change and movement both in body and mind, its an unsettling time for many.
Its a time for harvesting much of natures bounty is gathered and stored. Thankfully it's becoming more popular again as people turn towards the simpler things in life that are connected to nature. Although early last month as I gathered masses of blackberries I was saddened that they were left unpicked, I had nowhere else to store them as I made mountains of jam and juices.
According to Ayurveda as we move through the rainy season which holds many health problems as discussed in the Rainy Season section, we move into Autumn which according to the Vedic calendar is late Sept to Mid November.
