So Yummy Orange & Tamari Tofu Rice Bowl

So Yummy Orange & Tamari Tofu Rice Bowl

This is a yummy rice bowl and I have made it as best I can so that all doshas can eat it, but sometimes rather than avoid compromising the taste mix we have it only on the odd occasion, but it's very delicious.

So oranges are fine for Vata and Kapha but heating for Pitta. Tofu is fine for Vata and Pitta but not so good for Kapha. Vinegar and soy sauce is fine for Vata and Kapha but not so good for Pitta. So considering all these things you might want to choose to eat in moderation.

Ingredients for Orange Sauce

  • Half a cup of water with half a teaspoon of bouillon
  • 3 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons of coconut sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons of tamari
  • 2 Tablespoons of fresh orange juice
  • 1 Tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 1 A teaspoon of orange zest
  • 1 A teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons of sesame oil
  • Pinch of chili flakes

Put everything into a small pan and heat up and stir until its fully combined and starts to thicken like a sauce, cook for about 5 to 10 mins.

Tofu Directions

  • 1 Pack of firm tofu cut into squares
  • 1 Tablespoon of energy yeast flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon of tamari

Mix the flakes with the tamari and then add the tofu squares and let the tofu marinate for a few hours.

Put the marinated tofu squares onto a baking tray and cover with the marinade, cook in the oven for about 10 mins and then turn over to cook further, until the tofu is browned and gummy.

Rice Bowl

  • Prepare some steamed veg, I like to use broccoli or green beans.
  • Prepare some basmati rice
  • At the bottom of a bowl add the steamed rice, pile onto the broccoli, then add the marinated tofu squares.
  • Finish your bowl by spooning on the orange sauce
